Maverick Lawyer

A Legal Memoir by Peter Lewi

"Enough is enough- I've had it. Get out of my room and I mean right now." Jack was screaming at the two Singaporean lawyers who were in his hotel room at the historic Raffles Hotel in Singapore pouring through every document page by page in three very large suitcases that Jake had purchased to transport some records of an Indonesian company to Los Angeles. Arthur Tang, Jake's Singapore attorney gently took his arm and escorted him to the hallway. "Jake -I don't blame you for losing it but you have to calm down. I suggest you go have a martini at the Writers Bar and let me deal with these jerks"

This one lawyer's story about a unique career that took him all over the world on an often offbeat and sometimes even dangerous assignments. Jake did his own detective work which he enjoyed as much as the legal work. Tending to be a lone wolf, his sense of adventure led him to far-flung places including Singapore, Indonesia, India, Denmark, and France. Unwilling to settle for the big law firm or corporate life, he had no regrets about the path he had chosen.

Peter Lewi is a graduate of Occidental College and USC school of law. He started his career as a litigator and tried dozens of cases of all types - criminal, civil, jury, non-jury, state & federal.
